After finishing all the painting, we began tackling furnishing our living space. After all, this is the most used room in the home. Since we were living with my in-laws for the past year and a half, we had no furniture aka we were working with a clean slate. Both a blessing and a challenge at the same time, especially when you have two individuals trying to come together on style and function. However, the main challenge was sticking within our budget. Furniture can really add up especially when you have to purchase e v e r y single piece.
That’s when we discovered Article, a Vancouver-based online retailer with no showrooms, salespeople and unnecessary layers. Their prices are fair because they’ve cut out the middleman without compromising quality.
My hubby and I were able to finally come to an agreement and chose a few modern and simple staple pieces that worked perfectly in our small space but most importantly stick within our budget: Mara Walnut Coffee Table – $349 , Mara Walnut Side Table – $249, and Sven Charme Tan Leather Sofa – $1899. I know exactly what you’re thinking – buying furniture online seems to be a little risky. However, with Article’s return policy, I knew that if the items didn’t work we could always return them (which we actually ending up doing with the sofa because we initially ordered the larger Sven sofa that was just a little too big for our staircase)! After that little hiccup, which I admit was my fault for not measuring, our living space started to look and feel like a real home.
In a small space, sometimes you’ll need items that have multiple functions and for myself this was an important factor when choosing our Article pieces. Take for example the Mara Walnut Coffee Table which currently functions as my backdrop for #onthetable shots!
All in all, don’t be afraid to purchase your furniture online, you’ll save a few dollars here and there without compromising quality…just make sure to measure twice 😉
